Security Lead - Role Descriptor

Lead the security strategy, compliance, and risk management for Spark Data Centres, ensuring the protection of assets, infrastructure, and information. Oversee the implementation of security measures across data centre sites, ensuring adherence to NZSIS, Zone 4, and customer security SLAs while maintaining industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Security Strategy & Compliance

Develop and implement security policies and procedures aligned with NZSIS, Zone 4, and national security standards.
Conduct risk assessments, audits, and compliance reporting to ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements.
Maintain awareness of emerging security threats and industry advancements to continuously improve security frameworks. Physical Security & Incident Response
Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of access control, surveillance, and intrusion detection systems.
Lead security incident investigations, collaborating with law enforcement and regulatory bodies as required.
Develop and maintain incident response and crisis management plans to ensure swift resolution of security threats.

Security Engineering & Facility Development

Approve and review security designs for new and existing data centre facilities.
Work closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to integrate security measures into facility upgrades and expansions.
Ensure compliance with Construction Security Management Plans (CSMPs) and oversee security aspects of facility projects.

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

Lead and mentor the security team, fostering a culture of security awareness.
Work collaboratively with Spark Cyber Security, data centre operations teams, law enforcement, and regulatory bodies to ensure security alignment.
Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers to ensure the highest security standards.

Experience Required

10+ years in senior security leadership, preferably in hyperscale or mission-critical infrastructure.
Expertise in NZSIS guidelines, Zone 4 security standards, and national security frameworks.
Strong experience in security engineering design, risk management, and compliance audits.
Proven ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and manage high-risk security environments.
Certifications such as CPP, PSP, CISSP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
