About the Role:
As the Device Certification Engineer, on fixed term contract for six months, you’ll be working within a team responsible for the testing and certification of various range of devices including mobile, modems and RF modules supporting Sparks multi-vendor mobile network.
Reporting to the Chapter Lead - Device Technology and Certification, the successful candidate will work closely with other team members, Network team, RF team, Businesses within Spark, and OEMs.
Day to day you will:
- Review and understand test scope and requirements, and perform testing in line with defined procedures, including signalling scenarios, emergency alerts, call flows, device and network services, and handover testing.
- Conduct RF testing using both conducted and radiated methods to ensure compliance with 3GPP specifications, utilizing equipment such as the R&S CMW500, CMX500, and other laboratory tools.
- Capture and analyze diagnostic logs using relevant tools, identify issues, recommend corrective actions, and produce test reports.
- Provide technical support to test engineers and vendors by resolving queries and assisting with troubleshooting activities.
- Effectively prioritize, organize, and manage multiple testing projects and tasks to meet delivery timelines.
What experience you'll bring:
- Good technical knowledge of the telecommunications industry, with an understanding of 3GPP standards and 4G/5G technologies. Hands-on experience in areas such as Drive Testing, Interoperability Testing, 5G NR, and NB-IoT is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working with major telecommunications vendors in a mobile network environment, including device testing, technology projects, or network architecture initiatives.
- Sound understanding of wireless device testing principles, telecommunications networks, and industry standards, with experience working on complex projects and collaborating across cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities, remain resilient, and balance attention to detail with a broader strategic perspective.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and easily understood information for a variety of audiences.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented, with a positive attitude, strong initiative, and a proven ability to take ownership and deliver outcomes.
