About the Role:
We are seeking a Field Engineer who is passionate about technology and problem solving, someone who can get stuck in and get things done, but also possesses excellent customer service skills, is friendly, outgoing and a team player. The role is based in the Waikato, Bay of Penty and Gisborne areas. The successful candidate will also have experience in supporting (including build capability) the following networking technologies:
•Network Transport
•Core IP Nodes
•Fibre Install
•Inside Plant Technologies
•Various (incl. Legacy and Telephony/PSTN) Network systems
Day to day you will:
- Be carrying out technical work in the field, including Exchange, Datacentre, Government and Customer environments
- Be working with NOCs, Lev 2 support, customers, vendors and 3rd parties
- Be multi-skilled as you maintain wide range of telecommunications network equipment
- Be leveraging on your experience to carry out fault analysis and maintenance support on different networks
- Carry out fibre build and provisioning work
- Operate fibre and telecommunications test instruments
- Be aware and compliant in Health & Safety
- Be resourceful, and innovative but know when to escalate issues.
- Be self-motivated and be able to work unsupervised.
What experience you'll bring:
More than 5 years’ relevant telecommunications experience, with a desire to grow your skills in new technologies
Knowledge of Exchange, Datacentre, Government and Customer environments
Experience working in high-pressure environments, as well as the ability to adapt to change, and changing technologies
Experience in fault analysis and maintenance support
Experience in Field Support for ISP equipment including IP, Ethernet and PSTN
Experience in Network Transport technologies including Legacy and OTN
Fibre build and provisioning experience including ODF patching and tie cable installation
Good Network build understanding and capability
Ethernet and Switchboard cabling experience
Experience and understanding around operating fibre and telecommunications test instruments
Health & Safety aware and compliant
Excellent customer service skills
