Description & Requirements
Are you a seasoned network engineer who thrives on complex challenges and loves working with cutting-edge technology?
Join Spark's Managed Enterprise Network team and take ownership of one of our flagship customer environments at one of New Zealand's busiest and most dynamic sites. Want to work on the Infrastructure of some of New Zealand's most important organisations. You'll have access to the latest technologies, a team that values your expertise, and the scope to grow your skills in automation, cloud networking, and beyond.
Ready to take your network career to the next level? We'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing
This is a hands-on Tier 3 role where no two days look the same. You'll be a trusted technical expert — solving complex faults, driving network improvements, and being the go-to engineer for a high-profile enterprise customer.
Day-to-day, you'll:
- Diagnose and resolve complex network incidents, keeping customers running within tight SLAs
- Lead problem resolution across the full lifecycle — from fault identification through to fix and follow-up
- Design and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and implementation plans to a high standard
- Support and deliver network upgrades, migrations, and new implementations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and contractors to deliver secure, scalable solutions
- Contribute to automation and scripting initiatives to drive efficiency
The Setup
We know flexibility matters. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement:
- 1–2 days per week on-site at Auckland Airport Site.
- 2 days at our Spark office
- 1 day working from home
You'll be available across a 7am–7pm weekday window on a rostered basis, with occasional after-hours on-call support. In return, you'll be part of a supportive, highly skilled team working on enterprise infrastructure that genuinely matters.
What You'll Bring
Must-haves:
- 5+ years in network infrastructure, ideally within a telco, service provider, or large enterprise environment

- Solid knowledge of BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, and QoS
- Strong WiFi expertise and a deep understanding of hardware/software performance and scaling
- Excellent communication skills — you'll be customer-facing and need to translate technical complexity clearly
- A relevant qualification in networking or a related field
Bonus points for:
- Experience with Fortinet SD-WAN, Velocloud, Catalyst SD-WAN, or Aruba wireless/switching
