About the Role: 

This is an exciting opportunity to start your career in telecommunications as a Trainee Network Rigger. Working alongside experienced Riggers and Technicians, you’ll gain hands-on experience building and maintaining the mobile and fibre networks that keep Aotearoa connected. This is a practical, outdoor role with full training provided and genuine career progression opportunities.

Day to day you will: 

• Assist with installing antennas, mounts, and associated equipment on towers and structures

• Support the rigging and securing of cabling for mobile and wireless network infrastructure

• Work safely at heights under the guidance of qualified Riggers

• Help with site builds, upgrades, and maintenance of telecommunications equipment

• Carry out basic testing and equipment checks as part of network installations

• Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and quality standards

• Travel to various sites around the South Island as part of a field-based team

What experience you'll bring: 

You may be new to telecommunications, but you bring a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn. You enjoy hands-on, practical work and thrive in a team environment. Being physically fit, comfortable working outdoors, and open to working at heights is important. A full driver’s licence is preferred, and any previous experience in construction, electrical, or trade environments would be an advantage but is not essential — full training will be provided.
