What is the Role?
You’ll be responsible as a Senior Security Engineer for the support, maintenance, and lifecycle management of Spark's security infrastructure offerings for our Enterprise and Commercial customers. This includes working with technologies like Next-Generation Firewalls from vendors such as Fortinet, Checkpoint, Cisco, F5, and others.
You will grow into a technical subject matter expert across multiple toolsets, with the opportunity to mentor others and take on leadership responsibilities. Your Responsibilities:
- Provide operational and administrative support for security infrastructure, including Next-Generation Firewalls, SSE Solutions, Web Proxies, and more.
- Collaborate as part of project teams on various initiatives.
- Manage the lifecycle, capacity, and vulnerability of security infrastructure.
- Assist with risk management activities.
- Ensure adherence to security best practices.
- Participate in security audit and control activities as needed.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to team members.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation.
- Handle change, problem, and incident management for Spark’s internal security infrastructure.
- Proactively propose and implement continuous improvements to enhance security processes.
- Manage and track your workload and operational responsibilities.
- Work well in a team-oriented environment.
- Be available during operational hours and after hours as requested.
- Participate in on-call rotations and work overtime as required by customer needs.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Preferred experience in a network security role within a Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP).
- Advanced experience with Fortinet and Checkpoint is a must.
- Experience in security operations, design, and development processes and environments.
- Familiarity with routing and switching.
- Operational experience with F5/NetScaler and other SSE solutions.
- Experience with Intrusion Prevention/Detection Systems (IPS/IDS).
- Intermediate to advanced understanding of protocols like TCP, UDP, HTTP, and how applications and systems work.
- Experience with web-proxy solutions is a plus.
- Comfortable using network protocol analyzers and monitoring tools.
Certifications:
At least two of the following (or equivalent certifications) are preferred:
- Fortinet NSE 7 preferred
- Checkpoint CCSE
